DEWA discusses collaboration with SAP SE

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD&CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), met with Christian Klein, CEO and Board Member of SAP-SE. The meeting was attended by Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and Future at DEWA; Waleed Bin Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence at DEWA; Abdullah Obaidullah, Executive Vice President of Water and Civil at DEWA; Mohammad bin Sulaiman, CEO of Moro Hub (Data Hub Integrated Solutions); Dr Ahmed Al Ketbi, Information Security Officer at DEWA; and Mohammad Al Sharid, Chief Digital Officer at DEWA.

During the meeting, Al Tayer stressed the importance of exchanging best practices and global experiences between the two parties. Bilateral cooperation areas include innovation, digital transformation, Internet of Things, big data analytics and cloud computing, among others.

Al Tayer commended the strategic partnership between DEWA and SAP, which began in 2009 when DEWA implemented the SAP Wave 1 Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to measure, integrate and automate all DEWA operations to deliver the most high level of service to its customers, employees and partners. The relationship between the two organizations later expanded to include the Data Hub for Integrated Solutions (Moro). Since 2018, Moro has been the authorized provider of the SAP-Hana platform for enterprise cloud services. This year, Moro was certified by SAP as a RISE partner. It is the first local provider to be certified in the United Arab Emirates to deliver secure, cloud-based SAP services. SAP also supported the Moro Green Data Center, the largest solar center in the Middle East and Africa region designed to achieve a Tier-III certificate from the Uptime Institute, at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park in Dubai.

Last February, DEWA announced a partnership between Moro, a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, ​​the digital arm of DEWA, ​​and SAP. The initiative enables government and private entities to unlock new efficiencies through the intelligent automation of their critical processes, which will be hosted from Moro Hub’s state-of-the-art data centers in compliance with data residency and cybersecurity requirements of the United Arab Emirates.
