SmartCone and CITM create a Smart City IoT data repository to support start-ups and SMEs
CITM’s Smart Mobility (SMN) R&D network and Smart City IoT data repository were designed to support start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) clients in product development, R&D and testing of intelligent mobility and transport solutions. As one of CITM’s three technology partners, SmartCone’s hardware and software became an integral part of the SMN in 2020 and is also a key part of the data repository, available in November 2021. Customers can use these technology resources for free, by accessing a complex test environment that includes both 4G / 5G wireless connectivity, cloud storage, IoT / compute capability at the edge, and a V2X platform.
CITM’s ultimate goal was to design and deliver a test environment that provides customers with access to real-time and cumulative data to support the development and commercialization of new technologies. As part of the multi-test environment that also includes Nokia technology and iSmartWays, Smartcone sensors provide business customers with IoT sensor data from intersections and real city roads, and offer real computing capabilities to The point.
Richard Dunda, Director of CITM, said: âAs one of three technology providers for our new multi-site test environment, Smartcone not only enables the infrastructure required to provide innovators with access to data on time. network real time and cumulative data from the repository. , but also the ability to run applications in a cloud-based environment, facilitating live remote and on-site road tests. We are excited to be working alongside Smartcone, an Ontario-based company, to provide technical resources that further drive innovation in the autonomous transportation sector.
Jason Lee, CEO and Founder of SmartCone Technologies âSmartCone sees CITM as a strategic partner in the development of our technology ecosystem. They are strategically located in an area that offers mobility opportunities covering all transport from roads, shipping ports and airports. This gives SmartCone the opportunity to really shine. Their vision, knowledge and experience to help shape platform businesses are also a valuable asset as SmartCone continues to innovate in new markets.
On November 16, 2021, CITM and its technology partners SmartCone, Nokia and iSmartWays will hold an information session to learn more about Ontario’s first live, multi-site and 5G R&D network in Ontario that is available for help design, validate and advance intelligent transport and mobility products and technologies.
