Telecom Egypt and Orange Jordan sign a collaboration agreement to serve Iraq

Amman: Telecom Egypt, Egypt’s leading integrated telecom operator and one of the largest submarine cable operators in the region, announces the signing of a strategic collaboration agreement with Orange Jordan, the leading integrated communications services operator and one of the subsidiaries of the Orange group, to create a very reliable ground system linking Iraq to Europe via Jordanian and Egyptian territories.

The new system will be commercially named “Cairo Amman Baghdad System” or “CAB System”. It is part of the two operators’ strategy to extend their footprint to the Middle East market in general, and to the Iraqi market in particular, with the aim of providing cutting-edge telecommunications and connectivity solutions. The system will capitalize on the position, international assets and facilities of Telecom Egypt, as well as the fully diversified infrastructure of Orange Jordan in Jordan. The integration of the companies’ distinguished and robust networks will deliver reliable, low-latency Internet connectivity services through diverse and highly resilient routes to meet the growing demand of the Iraqi market.

The CAB system will be ready for commissioning in the third quarter of 2022. Once launched, it will be the most advanced and scalable gateway and expressway connecting Iraq to Europe using the networks of the companies. .
